Clare native Brian McMahon trains just over the county line in Tubber, south Galway and is hopeful that Jolie Jewel will represent him well at next week's festival meeting in Ballybrit.

A daughter of the Montjeu stallion Spider Flight and out of a half-sister to Cheltenham cross-country winner Easysland, the French-bred is a dual winner over hurdles and has finished fifth in competitive handicaps at each of the last two Galway festivals.

Sent over fences in May, the seven-year-old was placed over 2m1f at Ballinrobe before finishing runner-up in a useful 2m4f novice contest at Punchestown last month.

"I hope to have four or five runners at Galway and I'm looking forward to Jolie Jewel," said McMahon.

"She'll either go for a beginners' chase (on Tuesday) or the Hemphill (handicap chase) on the Sunday.

"She seems to be a good bit better over fences and she's running off, more or less, her hurdles' mark. She seems to enjoy chasing and I'm looking forward to a good run from her."
