Abbotsford a dominant winner for Weld & Maguire Ridden by Finny Maguire in the colours of Juddmonte, Abbotsford emphatically justified 7/4 favouritism in Galway's Qualified Riders' Maiden over a mile and a half. Narrowly beaten at Cork on his previous start in May, the Frankel gelding tracked the pace and hit the front two furlongs out. Ridden clear early in the straight, he won by seven and a half lengths from Sunny South West with the 85-rated Daddy Long Legs a further neck away in third. “He’s a lovely big horse. He’s still very immature but he’s a horse with a future,” said winning trainer Dermot Weld. On Finny Maguire, he added “He’s a lovely rider and I don’t know why people don’t use him more. “He’s been riding for me for years.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
