An Irish trainer to watch on Day 3 of the Cheltenham Festival Ireland have dominated the Cheltenham Festival in recent times and it’s not just Willie Mullins who does the damage to the home team. Henry de Bromhead is one of the main contributors to that and he has a strong team to go to war with on Thursday. Ryanair Mares' Novices' Hurdle - 1.20 Cheltenham Air Of Entitlement has been a name on the lips of many shrewd judges on the Festival preview circuit and she got the better of Albert Bartlett contender Ballybow when winning a maiden hurdle well at Down Royal on Boxing Day. Despite being run over 2m1f, this race often goes to staying types and if this becomes a test of stamina, she’ll have every chance of running a big race. Rachael Blackmore rides and she looks like De Bromhead’s biggest chance of having a winner. Jane Eire is probably a speedier type, on the evidence of her comfortable Cork maiden hurdle win but it’s potentially a negative that she hasn’t been seen since early November. The form is a bit of a mixed bag but the third has won since. Leading British jockey Sean Bowen has been booked for the ride but whilst she’s entitled to progress, plenty more will be needed. Mystical Goddess won a maiden hurdle at Clonmel but was well beaten in Grade 3 company behind Aurora Vega in January and it’s hard to see her reversing the form here. Ryanair Chase Envoi Allen loves it at Cheltenham and has three Festival victories to his name; the Champion Bumper, Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle and this race two years ago. Second in this last year, it’s not hard to imagine him making the frame once again at a substantial price to boot. It’s easy to forgive a below-par display at Kempton in the King George as that isn’t his track, but Cheltenham certainly is and the 11-year-old could have one more trick up his sleeve. Jungle Boogie has plenty of supporters and he remains very lightly raced for an 11-year-old. A respectable sixth in the Gold Cup last season, the drop back in trip looks like a sensible decision and he could be one for a place. Heart Wood bolted up in a seemingly competitive Grade 3 handicap at Leopardstown in February 2024 but skipped Cheltenham and went to Aintree instead, where he finished third in a Grade 1 novice event over an extended three miles. A fair fourth behind Galopin Des Champs over Christmas, we haven’t seen the best of him yet. Stayers’ Hurdle Bob Olinger remains unbeaten at Cheltenham, in albeit fortuitous circumstances with the fall of Galopin Des Champs in the 2022 Turners. De Bromhead’s gelding hasn’t hit the heights that he once promised to but remains a talented performer at a fair level. He has filled the runner-up spot behind Home By The Lee twice this season but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was to turn the tables now back at his beloved Cheltenham. Victory can’t be ruled out but perhaps place claims are more likely and it’s an open enough renewal this year. Get €50 in FREE bets with TalkSPORT BET:
