Annecherie registered a second success over Dundalk's maximum distance today, landing the opening two-miles Dundalk Winter Series Championship Handicap for trainer Sheila Lavery and jockey Bill Lee.

The Yeats-sired filly's only previous win was at today's venue in November and today again showed an abundance of stamina when holding the late challenge of Jake Peter by half a length.

Later Lavery said “I'm delighted with that. I was very grateful that they upped this to a 0-70 as she was rated 66 and there was nothing for her.

“There is a winners' race next week but it might be a bit quick after running over two miles. She will get entered and I'll take a look at it.

“If she doesn't run she'll get a break and I'll look forward to the summer with her. I think she's just improving all the time and getting stronger. Billy said she loves the surface.”
