Burlesque Queen provided trainer Liz Doyle with a welcome change of fortune when landing the Carrick-On-Suir Handicap Hurdle at Clonmel.

The five-year-old mare wasn’t totally friendless despite a starting price of 20/1 having been as big as 50/1 earlier in the day and 33’s on track.

She made smooth headway to lead approaching the penultimate flight and stretched right away on the run-in under James O’Sullivan to record a six and a half lengths winning verdict.

The 7/2 favourite Something Sweet kept on one paced into second, with Musical Ava another two lengths back in third.

Capture The Action completed the places in fourth.

The Wexford trainer was ending a spell of nearly five months without a winner.
