Easy Game justified 1/6 favouritism in winning Listowel's four-runner John J. Galvin Chase today, as Champion Jockey Paul Townend's calculations safely secured a snug success.

The quartet finished the contest in racecard order with top weight Easy Game popping the final two fences and scoring by a length and a half from Born By The Sea

Townend later quipped “he was there for me if I needed a big jump at the last two, but the risk/reward for a fancy picture wasn't for me!”

The Willie Mullins trained eight year old had finished runner-up in last year's Galway Plate, and Townend added “he is consistent and lovely to be associated with and has been a good fun horse for his owners.

“He didn't enjoy the ground but has that bit of class, was in his comfort zone at all stages and was dawdling around having a look at everything.

“He is a smashing horse, he has been at the top level and while it is hard for him in all those big handicaps carrying top weight, that is the level he is and the Galway Plate looks the obvious target now.”
