Denise Foster's Pike County surged home to land the concluding extended mile and a half handicap in Ballinrobe.

The 16/1 shot was rousted along by Mark Enright from the stalls to take a position towards the rear of the field.

He still had plenty on his plate three furlongs out but began to make headway on the inner in the final quarter of a mile.

The progress continued and Enright moved him off the rail straightening for home. From third, he powered to the front 150 yards out and wasn't for stopping.

He delivered by a length and a half from Beer With The Boys who was backed from 20/1 in the morning down to 9/1. Derry Lad (10/3 favourite) was a length and three parts further away in third.

Enright said: “Stalls are his problem. He can be very slow away but after I got my position he got into a nice rhythm. I just rode him for a bit of luck and thankfully I got a bit of luck down the inside. It was tight but he was gutsy.

"He has a fair level of ability but he’s been tricky to win with and it was nice to get his head in front today. I think it’s Sneezy’s first winner for JP (McManus) so that’s good.”
