Farrier and trainer Mark Fahey along with jockey Ricky Doyle combined for first career Listed wins today as their Well Set Up landed the Listed Paddy's Rewards Club EBF Novice Hurdle at Cork.

The daughter of Gold Well was touched off by just a nose in a similar Listed hurdle at Limerick on St Patrick's Day earlier this year and today improved one placing from her latest Listed runner-up placing, also at Limerick, last month.

Well Set Up improved to lead from the second last flight and while she drifted alarmingly left on the run-in, jockey Doyle crucially kept the revs up as the mare galloped to a two lengths win over Doctor Duffy

Afterwards Fahey stated “she deserved that as she had been second in two Listed races before and when she hits the front she runs around the place.

“She didn't seem to have too hard of a race there, did it well and that's her trip and ground. There is a race back here in three weeks time or we might freshen her up and bring her back to Limerick. There are plenty of options.

“If she won (the Listed race at Limerick) last year I wouldn't have her as she'd definitely have been retired! We're delighted to have her again this year and Ricky knows her inside out. She runs around a good bit and she'd never look like she is travelling and he gave her a great ride.”
