Gevrey recorded his second win at Limerick when staying on best under Davy Russell to win the PWC Handicap Chase at the Munster venue.

A winner of a maiden hurdle at the same track almost two years ago, the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding made it a fourth career success when getting up on the line to head Optional Mix

Both the aforementioned can consider themselves rather fortunate, as The Dara Man was still travelling well in front when coming to grief at the second last.

It was too early to tell how the result would have gone but the John Ryan-trained horse certainly wasn't done for.

Disappointing when well backed at Galway on his most recent start, Gevrey made up for that run with a much improved effort here.

Davy Russell said; "I got going on him way too early the last day, I got upsides too early and you just have to wait with him. You must learn from your mistakes!

"He has been a very good horse for us, he tries his best every time but you have to get him right. He is brave, you need to start him slow during the race, he pops away and then he gets into his rhythm."
