Ground now soft to heavy at Galway

The ground has improved slightly overnight at Galway ahead of their seven-race card today.

The going is now described as soft to heavy, having turned heavy last night after persistent rain.

The forecast is for showers today with a risk of light showers tomorrow.

Pickle is Much the Best at Leopardstown

The Denise Foster-trained Frank Pickle (8/1) was a cosy winner of the Harry Meighan Memorial Handicap for jockey Ben Coen. The five-year-old son of Free Eagle travelled well throughout the race and the step back in trip suited as he took the race up over a furlong out, and he was not for catching, winning by three-quarters of a length with the Jessica Harrington-trained Dark Viper finishing second.
