Home By The Lee maintained his two-race unbeaten record over fences at Cork today as the Joseph O'Brien trained gelding landed the Grade 3 Paddy Power Podcast EBF Novice Chase under jockey JJ Slevin.

The son of Fame And Glory was unbeaten in two summer bumper starts last year and while subsequently unable to compete in two Graded hurdles, today followed up a debut chase win at Limerick last month.

In today's race Home By The Lee, carrying the colours of owner Sean O'Driscoll, was produced by Slevin to challenge from the second last and the pair edged past leader Waitnsee on the run-in before beating that rival by a length and three parts.

O'Brien wasn't present and afterwards Slevin stated “it was a big ask having had just one run over fences and he jumped fairly well but got under one or two. He stays very very well and is a lovely horse going forward.

“I needed a good jump at the last but didn't get a wonderful jump but he managed to get away from it well and plugged on to the line.”
