Danny Howard is eyeing another Galway Festival highlight with Sylkie, the Co Clare-trained mare who thrives at Ballybrit.

Sylkie Targets Repeat Victory at Galway Festival

Sylkie, trained by Danny Howard in Co Clare, has posted three career successes with the trio coming in Ballybrit. One of those wins was at last year’s Galway Festival, in an extended mile handicap, and Howard is hoping she can repeat the feat this year.

He said: “Yeah, she seems to come alive around there. I think it is the faster pace and then the hill just kind of brings it all into play for her. I think she likes a little bit of a cut in the ground as well.

"Hopefully, we get our conditions and a repeat would be nice. Even close to a repeat would be nice! Days like that, they don't come too often."
