Jarvis Issues Makshoof Warning

Michael Jarvis has warned his well-fancied Makshoof is not a definite starter in Saturday´s William Hill Trophy at York.

The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned gelding made a winning reappearance at Haydock last month but is not guaranteed to get in the #100,000 heat off his current handicap mark of 85.

Jarvis would also like to see some rain on the Knavesmire to boost Makshoof´s chances and says his other entrant, Ebn Reem, could also sidestep the six-furlong sprint.

'There´s question marks about both of them running at the weekend and they´re by no means certain runners,' Jarvis explained.

'Ebn Reem gets in but he´s got an alternative option down at Leicester and the other horse, Makshoof, may not even get in the race as he needs a few to come out.

'He would want it to rain a little bit as well as he likes a bit of cut in the ground, so I´d say I´m not certain to have a runner at this stage.'

Makshoof currently trades as the 7-1 co-favourite with sponsors William Hill along with Utmost Respect and David Wachman´s Contest.
