Runner-up four times in his most recent eight starts on the polytrack, Jered Maddox (5/1) was certainly not winning out of turn in the Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk Stadium Handicap.

Oisin Orr ’s mount broke well from the outside stall and Orr was able to get a good position tracking the leaders before the first bend.

The Lawman gelding was pushed along to hit the front over a furlong out and kept on well to defeat Kendred Soul (5/1) by three quarters of a length with The Cola Kid (17/2) finishing strongly for third a further half a length away.

It was a second career success for Jered Maddox who had won over a furlong further at Ffos Las in 2019.

Winning trainer David Marnane said: “It's no more than he deserved. He's been second five times here and has been very consistent.

“I think he's just getting better now. He'll have one or two more goes up here but I'd like him to have a go on the turf on a straight track.”
