Lady comes from last to first in finale

Lady Arwen was another fast finishing winner at Galway this evening when landing the concluding Caulfield Industrial Handicap for trainer Conor O’Dwyer.

The Postponed mare looked to have blown her chance at the start when giving the field a five-length head start.

She came wide entering the straight and still had plenty to do passing the furlong pole.

Billy Lee got a great tune from the 12/1 shot in the closing stages as she chased down 11/4 favourite San Aer to record a length-and-a-half success.

"I've been around a long time and seen crazy things but that is as mad as anything!” said O’Dwyer.

“I said to Hugo (Kane, owner) that as long as she comes out of the stalls okay and sits in fifth or sixth-position, that she'd be okay but she stood in the stalls again like in Ballinrobe.

"Jokingly, I had said to Billy (Lee) to do the same as Ballinrobe but I did think we were stuffed today.

“It was an unbelievable ride to sit as cool as he did; she had only 11 to pass in Ballinrobe but had 17 to pass today.

"She has always come home well here but I can't believe this. My horses have just hit form for no reason, we're doing nothing different but that's probably the key to it, to keep going and to believe in what you're doing.

"Without Hugo and Anne, I wouldn't have kept going and they are such enthusiastic and loyal owners. They were just thrilled to have a runner here and to have a winner is brilliant."
