In-form jockey Darragh O'Keeffe completed a treble on the card when guiding Marv Michael to an easy success in the Shanette Superior Space Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan.

Already in the winners' enclosure on two occasions earlier in the evening, the Cork born rider maintained his impressive run of form aboard the Henry De Bromhead trained gelding.

Chasing leader Miss Oreo for much of the contest, the former course and distance winner arrived up alongside to dispute after jumping two out(usual three out).

With the last fence in the straight omitted, Marv Michael led at the final obstacle(usual two out), before quickly asserting to pull clear on the long run-in to win by 12 lengths.

O’Keeffe said of the winning syndicate: “They enjoy their racing anyway.

“When we brought him to Cheltenham last October he just didn’t run his race but the lads were still delighted to be over there.

“In fairness he was on song today, he never missed a beat jumping. It was ideal, he winged all the fences down the back and it just put him in pole position, and then he quickened up well.

“It’s a tight track and when you can zip along the inside it’s a good help. It’s horses for courses, he won his beginners here very well in similar conditions.”
