John McConnell is excited to see how far his stable star Go Another One can progress over fences after making a winning start at Clonmel last week.
The seven-year-old won five times over hurdles last season, including a Grade Three triumph at Thurles and a Listed success at Perth.
Having rounded off his campaign by finishing fifth behind Minella Indo in Grade One company at the Punchestown Festival, the Stowaway gelding was an odds-on favourite to make a winning debut over fences at Powerstown Park - and did so in good style in the hands of Sean Flanagan.
McConnell said: "He seems to have come out of it fine. We hadn't done a whole pile with him since Punchestown, so I'd like to think he'll come on for it fitness-wise and experience-wise.
"It was his first time jumping fences on the grass, so to go and see him get the job done was a big relief. He was entitled to win on his hurdling form and he means a lot to us, so we were delighted with him."
Go Another One made an early-season appearance at Cheltenham last October — filling the runner-up spot behind fellow Irish raider Canardier.
McConnell admits a potential return to the Cotswolds is already on his radar.
He added: "We’ll just take small steps with him and try to find a novice chase. There aren’t that many options for him over two-mile-six or three miles, so we’ll see what we can find. I think there might be a race in Killarney for him.
"We’ll give him two or three runs during the summer and then we’ll probably put him away for the winter and bring him back in the spring.
"He did go to Cheltenham last October and it has half-crossed my mind that there might be something back there for him, depending on the ground."
