Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore combined for a double on the opening day of the Flat season at the Curragh this afternoon when Horoscope claimed the colts and geldings maiden.

The No Nay Never colt went to post the 9/4 favourite in the seven-furlong contest and was prominent throughout.

He was sent on a furlong out and galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post a length-and-three-quarters victory over fast finishing 80/1 newcomer Meishar

Horoscope had chased home Sword Zorro when last seen at Leopardstown in October.

“He had a lovely run the first day here but then he went to Leopardstown and was beaten very easily,” said O'Brien.

“Ryan was very happy with him there and we might have a look at the Guineas trial at Leopardstown for him.

“He said he'd be better on better ground, he's a good moving horse, but he got through it.”
