Paddy Flood's Galway double: 'I'd say he could develop into a graded horse'

Every punter hopes to get off to a flyer at the start of a major festival, and nowhere is that more true than at Galway's mammoth seven-day meeting, which gets under way at 5.10pm on Monday.

Former jockey and coach, Paddy Flood, joined Johnny Ward to preview all the action in Galway this week on our preview show and is confident he’s found the winner of the curtain-raiser.

Trained by Mark Fahey, he absolutely bolted up first time out over hurdles at Bellewstown the last day.

He has nice Flat form. It can be a tricky race. I rode in it plenty of times on fancied horses that maybe came here without enough experience and got beaten.

I like the way this one won last week. I'd imagine plenty of the bigger trainers' runners will be shorter in the betting. Hopefully we can kick off the week with him.

Midnight Jet, 3.55 Thursday Galway

After winning his last two, he had a break in between. He's just a really likeable horse and I'd say he could develop into a graded horse. Whatever he does over hurdles will be a bonus.

He's big, powerful, balanced and has a lot to like about him.
