The Joseph Murphy trained Pivotal Attack took a significant step forward from her debut run when easily winning the COLM QUINN BMW Irish EBF Fillies Maiden at Galway.

Fifth on her introduction over 6f at Fairyhouse earlier this month, the Gary Carroll partnered filly showed distinct improvement faced with an additional furlong.

Well supported from 12/1 into 9/2, Pivotal Attack headed favourite Amelia Earhart over a furlong out, before stretching clear to win by four-and-a-quarter lengths.

Joseph Murphy said: "Our filly was very professional, she relaxed and when he asked her, she quickened. I think we have a nice filly going forward.

"I don't know where we'll go next but the curve will upwards anyway. I don't know the calibre of race it was and the O'Brien-horse (Amelia Earhart) was a bit unlucky but it was the way our filly did it - she did it very well.

"She is out of a Pivotal-mare and we think she is stakes class."

Gary Carroll added: "It was very nice, yeah. She is a filly that would surprise you a bit. All her work and, even through the race she goes along behind the bridle.

"When I gave her a squeeze today, I thought I quickened very well now and, really hit the line strong.

"She rode like a nice filly."
