BoyleSports Horse Racing Ambassador Robbie Power gives his thoughts on his Saturday rides at Ascot.

1.50 AscotMagic Of Light

Magic Of Light actually won this race last season. She had a fantastic season last season which culminated in a 2nd place at the Grand National at Aintree and that would be the plan again this year. This season has gone well so far, she won at Newbury before Christmas. This race looks a little hotter than it did when she won it last year. She has to give weight away all around. Papagana is a decent mare who was a good winner at Kempton before Christmas and then 3rd in a good stayers hurdle at Ascot. She’s the one we have to beat but Magic Of Light goes into this in great form and hopefully she can retain the title she won last year.

4.05 Ascot - Faustinovick

Faustinovick was probably a little disappointing in his last start when he was 3rd in Newbury. I’ve ridden him in all his starts so far and I was very impressed with him in a bumper in Newbury last year. He’s had a wind operation which will surely help his cause and hopefully he can get off the mark. He’s a very good horse and I don’t know how he hasn’t won yet but hopefully this will be his time.

Robbie Power is set to return to Ireland for four rides at Thurles on Sunday.
