Shantreusse was left to come home a wide margin winner of the three-mile maiden hurdle at Cork this afternoon.

The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding went to post a 4/6 shot to go one better having been runner-up on his hurdling debut at Punchestown in November.

Rachael Blackmore produced her mount to challenge three from home and the Shantou gelding had a narrow lead over Mahler Allstar when jumping big and bold at the second last.

Shantreusse was just starting to edge ahead when Mahler Allstar blundered at the last, unseating Sean O'Keeffe, and the winner galloped on strongly in the closing stages to record a 17-length success.

"it was a lovely performance and he was a good second the last day. He seemed to love the three miles today and he jumps really well,” said Blackmore.

"He is a lovely horse going forward and has a big future hopefully."
