Thursday's racing at Galway offers up the opportunity for punters to find some really nice value and BOYLE Sports amabassador Shark Hanlon is taking on the favourites with his three fancies on Galway Hurdle day.

3:20 Guinness Open Gate Brewery Novice Steeplechase

Shadow Paddy is two from two over fences, winning easily on both occasions and also boasts rock solid form over hurdles. He was thrown in the deep end in a Grade 1 at Aintree, but these are much calmer waters and he’s won his last four in Ireland, between hurdles and fences.

He does have to give weight away to the field, but there are chinks in the armour of his opposition. He beat Le Coq Hardi easily on chasing debut and Willie’s horse, Soir De Garde needs to get his jumping together.

Shadow Paddy has plenty in his favour and looks a class horse.

3:55, Guinness Novice Hurdle

Willie Mullins has a great record in this race, winning 5 of the last 10 renewals and Roc Dino looks to have a brilliant chance of making it 6 from 11.

He bumped into two good horses in his maiden hurdles and travelled brilliantly in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham before his effort flattened out. He got off the mark when bolting up at Downpatrick and the second from that race has won twice since in England. He could take a bit of beating here.

4:30, Galway Hurdle

It’s a really competitive renewal of the Galway Hurdle and you’d have to give plenty of these a big chance. I’m going to go for Puturhandstogether who is a real classy horse on the flat, winning the Irish Cesarewich last season.

He went off favourite for this race last year before missing the start and never getting involved, but he has some very solid hurdles runs under his belt, he’s trained by a brilliant target trainer, and he has a good pilot on board. He has a big each-way chance.
