The [email protected] Novice Handicap Hurdle provided a dream result as Georgie Benson partnered her first winner over hurdles on 33/1 chance Tullypole Annie

The Peter Flood-trained filly was kept to the outer throughout, leading off the home turn and staying on strongly inside the final furlong (final hurdle omitted due to low sun) to beat Brookie by a length. Low Style was a further four lengths away in third.

Benson said, “It worked out perfectly. She doesn’t like getting closed in so I kept her wide and she is a mare that just keeps giving.

“We didn’t think she would handle this ground today (officially soft) so we said we’d give her a run before having a break.

“I ride out at Gordon Elliott’s and also for Peter and both are very big supporters and do a lot for me.

“I was lucky enough to win the Ladies Derby a few years ago but today beats all as I love jump racing.

“My cousin Danny Benson got me into racing. He got me into Gordon’s a few mornings a week and I got the bug from there. It’s my first ride at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting and my first winner over hurdles.

“I’ve ridden about ten point-to-point winners.”
