Leading owners Wathnan Racing have added to their ranks with the signing of Ed Walker’s 1000 Guineas fourth The Prettiest Star.

The lightly-raced daughter of Starman was a taking winner at Nottingham on debut last summer before chasing home Zanthos in the Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket in her only other juvenile appearance.

She returned to the Rowley Mile to bid for Classic honours in just her third start and after only enhancing her reputation with a respectable display behind True Love, has been snapped up by the Emir of Qatar’s racing operation.

The Prettiest Star will remain with Walker, who saddled English Oak in the old gold and peacock blue of Wathnan to strike at Royal Ascot and their racing adviser Richard Brown said: “The Prettiest Star ran a fabulous race in the Guineas, especially for one so inexperienced.

“She’s very talented and, with luck, we’ll have a lot of fun with her in good races at festival meetings. Down the line, what a filly she is to breed from being from a typically deep Aga Khan family.”

Wathnan Racing is the ownership vehicle of Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar.

Sheikh Tamim, who is a brother of Sheikh Joaan of Al Shaqab Racing and cousin of Sheikh Fahad of Qatar Racing, set up Wathnan Racing in 2022.
