Which Wolf Wins was all the rage for the Guinness Irish EBF Nursery and the confidence proved well placed as he scored for Joseph O’Brien and Dylan Browne McMonagle.

The son of Holy Roman Emperor, sporting the colours of Joseph O’Brien’s sister Ana, was available at 11/4 this morning and was supported on track from 15/8 into 5/4 favourite.

Browne McMonagle produced him to lead at the furlong pole but needed to drive him right out in the closing stages to hold off Invincible Will by half a length. Nakamura could find no extra inside the final 150 yards and further two and a quarter lengths back in third.

Joseph O'Brien said, “He was a little disappointing on his first couple of runs but progressed well the last day at six furlongs and Wayne (Hassett) said to go to seven the next day.

“For the first time he went through the race well today and hopefully he can continue to go forward from here.

"He'll get confidence from today and there is a nice conditions race for him at Listowel in September."
