Balding Looking For York Gift

Andrew Balding is likely to unleash Siren´s Gift in the William Hill Trophy at York on Saturday ? providing the ground does not ride too soft.

Having twice finished fourth in Group Two contests on the Knavesmire as a juvenile, she reappeared with an encouraging second behind Morinqua at Beverley last month.

And while the Cadeaux Genereux filly holds an alternative engagement in the cherriesracing.com Scurry Stakes at Sandown, a crack at the #100,000 York heat looks to be on the cards.

'The preference would be for York, depending a little bit on the weather as we wouldn´t want it very soft up there,' explained Balding.

'She´s in good order and she´s been very consistent. She´s got a fair amount of ability and I´m sure she´ll run very well.

'It was her first run of the year at Beverley last time so she´s entitled to sharpen up a little bit for that and it looks like six furlongs might suit.'
