She didn’t always convince with her jumping but 11/10 favourite Great White Shark ultimately proved well up to the task in the Mount Leinster Hurdle at Wexford.

The grey went off to her right two out, but she was soon in control under champion jockey Paul Townend.

In the Monsignor silks of Malcolm Denmark, Townend eventually crossed the line eleven lengths to the good on the successful French-bred, now a dual hurdles winner. Poli Roi finished second.

"She jumped great for the first circuit but it just went to pot on the second circuit for whatever reason. A stronger gallop would have suited her, she would have got into a better rhythm," reported Townend.

The Willie Mullins-trained Great White Shark won two Flat races in her time with James Fanshawe.

The Stewards interviewed H. Morgan, rider of Daybreak Boy concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg.10.3.(g)(frequency) and having taken his record into account cautioned him.
