Alla Speranza caused a 10/1 surprise when successful on debut at Cork a few seasons back, and her half-sister Altesse repeated the feat by upsetting hot-pot Fastnet Mist on her first outing in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Killarney.

This completed a quick-fire 32/1 double for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning who were successful in the previous race with Fiscal Focus

The 5/1 chance took a while to hit top gear for Manning as Fastnet Mist looked set to score when cruising to the front early in the straight.

However the 8/15 favourite started to thread water inside the final furlong, and Altesse came home strongly to score by three quarters of a length.

There was a gap of over eight lengths back to Mozetta in third.

Alla Speranza went on to score at Group 3 level in the Enterprise Stakes at Leopardstown, although it remains to be seen if the daughter of Hernando can reach those heights.

Ger Flynn, representing Bolger, said “She’s a nice filly but has just taken a bit of time to come to hand.

“She is still very green, and will improve plenty for her first run. The trip (1m3f) is not an issue, and she could step up another furlong. She has a very good attitude.”
