Andy Dufresne made it two from two over fences when landing the Grade 3 novice chase at Navan.

Just the three runners went to post for this two mile one furlong test and Andy Dufresne went off 8/15 favourite.

He was tackled by second-favourite Embittered upon touching down after two out and was given a reminder by Mark Walsh approaching the last.

He arrived at that fence with a slight lead and a better jump than his rival enabled him to get the better of the argument on the run-in.

The six-year-old gelding took the spoils by three lengths from the 7/4 runner-up.

This gave Gordon Elliott four winners on the card and he said: “He knew he had a race from the last home and I’d say he wants two and a half miles.

“Christmas may come a bit soon for him and he could be one for something like (the Grade One at) Fairyhouse over two and a half miles.”

Elliott's other winners at Navan were Magic Tricks Clondaw Secret and Conflated Walsh doubled up on the day as he was also on Magic Tricks.

Paddy Power cut Andy Dufresne from 25/1 to 16/1 for the Arkle and left him unchanged at 16/1 for the Marsh Novices' Chase.
