The recent domination of the O'Brien family continued in the opener at Gowran this afternoon, as newcomer Chablis landed the Follow Gowran Park Racecourse On Twitter Fillies Maiden.

Trained by Aidan O'Brien, and bought for 1.55 million guineas as a yearling, the Galileo bay is a half-sister to French Group 2 winner Vadamar, and last year's Tyros Stakes victor The Pentagon.

Sent off at 8/1 under Wayne Lordan, she was settled behind the leaders on the inner, and was poised to challenge in fourth from the two furlong pole.

She soon came with her effort, and had a good battle with Peruvian Lily inside the final furlong, with three parts of a length separating them at the line.

The Joe Murphy trained runner-up was backed from 6s to 9/2 on-course (11s in early shows), while Lottieloveheart (50s to 33s) kept on well to take third, another length and a half back under Oisin Orr for Noel Meade. Singer was sent off the 6/4 favourite, and she faded tamely in the straight, eventually finishing a disappointing thirteenth.

Lordan said afterwards: "I'd a good draw (in three) and over seven furlong here it's a huge help. I was able to travel around well, and when I got out she picked up and went to the line well.

"She's a well-bred filly being a sister to The Pentagon. She's a filly that will stay and it was a nice performance."
