Epsom Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck will lock horns with star stayer Stradivarius in Friday's Group 1 Coronation Cup at Newmarket.

Anthony Van Dyck will be joined by stablemate Broome in a fascinating renewal of the 1m4f contest which also sees last year's winner Defoe among the seven runner field.

The other runners are high level performers in their own right. The Charlie Appleby trained Ghaiyyath won a German Group 1 by 14 lengths last year.

Desert Encounter trained by David Simcock bagged a Canadian Grade 1 towards the backend of last season at Woodbine. Alounak was second in that contest when trained in Germany and will now make his debut for the Andrew Balding stable.

The contest, which is the highlight of a ten race card at Newmarket on Friday is set to go to post at 3.35pm and will be broadcast live on ITV Racing.
