Ardglen does it again for red-hot Hanlon

The 2/1 favourite Ardglen recorded his second win in the space of five days as he made all to take the Charlie Chute Memorial Handicap Chase for red-hot trainer John 'Shark' Hanlon, with Brian Hayes in the saddle.

The winning son of Bach was a well backed winner (7/2 in the morning into 5/4 at the off) of a handicap chase at Ballinrobe on Monday evening under Declan Bates and he followed up today in convincing fashion.

The 7yo gelding soon led after the drop of the flag and stayed there for the rest of the contest, going clear into the straight and staying on well to score by an easy sixteen lengths.

Don't Tell The Purty finished best of the rest back in second at 14/1 while Island Peak (backed from 7/1 this morning) was a further three and three parts of a length back in third at 4/1.

Winning trainer John Hanlon said afterwards "He is in again in a two and a half mile Handicap Chase at Clonmel on Sunday and he will probably run there.

"He jumped much better today than at Ballinrobe and he loves that testing ground.

"That's my eighth winner in the last ten days and it's Brian's first winner as a professional in Ireland (rode a double at Perth on Wednesday).

"His owner (Neville Eager) is from Wicklow."

This was the second time the winner put together quick back to back victories as he won two handicap hurdles in the space of four days in December of last year at both Limerick and Tramore.
