Avenir d’Une Vie opened his account over fences in good style when making all under Davy Russell in the Gain Supporting Laois GAA Beginners Chase at Punchestown.

The Henry de Bromhead-trained grey, well backed this morning from 11/2 and sent off a 3/1 chance, jumped well in front and kept on well in the straight.

The easy-to-back 11/8 favourite Saturnas wasn’t helped by a mistake two out but could make little impression on the run-in and went down by two and a half lengths.

There was a 19 lengths gap back to That’s A Wrap in third.

De Bromhead said, “Andrew Lynch rode him in Naas over 2m3f and he was convinced he would have been hard to catch over two miles that day. It was unfortunate that he fell the last day but he was brilliant today.

“He’s in the race at Christmas at Leopardstown, and I’ll speak to the O’Leary’s and see what they would like to do. Hopefully he’s at that level."
