Bint Nayef seemed to be doing too much in Connor King’s (1st ride for Paul Deegan) hands throughout the concluding Sean Cleary Memorial Maiden at Galway but the daughter of Nayef overcame that hindrance to short head Tonabrocky

Bint Nayef was also bumped into when Vote Of Confidence drifted to his right about a furlong out and she in turn tightened up Alkali (finished sixth) on the rail.

There was a steward's enquiry but there was no action taken as the interference was deemed to be accidental.

Bint Nayef fended off the aforementioned Vote Of Confidence in the closing stages but at the line she had just a short head to spare from Jim Bolger's Tonabrocky (5s into 7/2).

Paul Deegan trains Bint Nayef for Jaber Abdullah and the Curragh handler remarked: "She's a nice sort of filly. We always thought she was up to winning a maiden.

"Her first couple of runs were good but then she lost her form. Her last run though was more encouraging.

"She travelled great today and I'm delighted.

"She's a nice big rangy filly and she'll go for a handicap next." (DM & EM)
