Rock On Dandy continued a good spell for Mayo handler Fergal Birrane when running out a cosy winner of the first division of the mile-and-a-half handicap at Dundalk.

The 14/1 shot was having his first start today for Birrane and travelled well to hit the front two furlongs from home under Padraig Beggy.

The French-bred grey kept on strongly in the closing stages to prove three-lengths too strong for Ben Rumson

Birrane had saddled his first winner with Glenmoore early last month and had also struck with California Lad here last Friday.

Birrane said:- “Everything is just coming together in the last couple of weeks and all the horses are peaking. I’ve been doing a lot of beach work and swimming with them.

“This horse will be campaigned here over the winter, and I’ve a couple more nice horses still to come here as well.

“A number of people have rung me in the past week looking to send me horses so the winners have been a great advertisement.”
