The Gordon Elliott-trained Roaring Bull made a winning return to action at Clonmel this afternoon when claiming the Prior Park Service Station Clonmel Hurdle.

The Gigginstown gelding was a faller when last seen in action at Punchestown in April but jumped well today to land the two-miler.

Davy Russell followed Chambord Du Lys before sending the 8/11 favourite into the lead before the second last. Capital Force tracked him through but couldn't find a way past Roaring Bull in the closing stages as the Milan gelding ran on strongly to post a two length success.

Elliott said :- “That's grand to get it out of the way. He is a horse who was a little disappointing last season but has got a lot stronger this year and he might go chasing now.

"It's grand to get his head back in front as he had been disappointing last season. He'll be ok."
