Family Business produced a powerful front-running performance to open her account in the Templemore Mares Maiden Hurdle at Thurles.

Donal Coffey 's charge had been placed three times over timber previously, and also in a bumper, and gained a deserved success in some style.

The in-form Jack Foley bounced out in front on the 16/5 shot but the pair were strongly pressed by 8/11 favourite Manisanda jumping the third last.

That rival had no more to offer after the penultimate hurdle though and Family Business quickened away down to the last.

The Oscar mare galloped on strongly in the closing stages to record a 15 length success in the two mile contest. Powerful Out came through for the runner-up spot as Manisanda faded into third.

Coffey said:- “She’s after being placed a number of times and she could have won a couple of times. She jumped away great there today and deserved that.”
