The gamble on Irish Bulletin at Limerick was foiled by long-time maiden Cadawill

Irish Bulletin was all the rage with punters as his price contracted from 9/1 in the morning and then from 4/1 to 10/3f at the track.

Cadawill, on the other hand, was a 37-race maiden under rules who was largely ignored in the market at 14/1.

The pair had the race to themselves as they came to the second last nicely clear of the remainder.

Irish Bulletin moved into a narrow lead upon landing but eight-year-old Cadawill landed full of running after the last and was driven out by Andrew Lynch to win by half a length. Naughty Molly came home third, six lengths away, at 7/2.

Trainer Rodger Sweeney said: "He ran in a hurdle race the other day but showed no interest and, if he didn't run well today, was heading back to point-to-points.

"I'd always have a few quid on each way but I didn't expect anything from him today!"

Cadawill had won a point-to-point at Killeagh in January 2015.
