Camlann continued a great week for owner Annette Mee when striking for 'Shark' Hanlon in the mile-and-a-half handicap at Galway.

The seven-year-old was sent off a 9/2 shot and made swift progress in the dip for Billy Lee (doubling up after his win on Honor Oak for Tom Hogan), swooping to the front at the two furlong marker.

He enjoyed a couple of lengths lead early in the straight and had enough up his sleeve to hold the renewed challenge of Make It Hurrah close home for a half length success.

It was a fifth winner of the week in the emerald green and mauve colours and a double on today's card following the opening race victory of the Willie Mullins-trained Minella Beau

“The mile-and-a-half might have been a bit short but the soft ground probably sorted that out,” said Hanlon.

“He ran a cracker here on the Flat last year off the same mark and we kind of just minded it for the year.

“You'll probably see him again on Saturday in the Flat race again. It's great to have a winner here for the Mees.

“He likes it around here and Billy gave him a great ride.

“He's gone into a tank of a horse this year. You'd think he wasn't fit but he always seems to come up trumps. His run over fences the last day, I'd say, was a very good run.”

Under the provisions of Rule 90 (iii), the Stewards allowed Guido Reni trained by Karl Thornton, to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the horse was correctly vaccinated in accordance with Rule 91.

Under the provisions of Rule 90 (iii), the Stewards allowed Mash Potato trained by Noel C. Kelly, to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the horse was correctly vaccinated in accordance with Rule 91.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Townshend (GER), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
