Cappacurry Zak and Ryan Treacy served up a 16/1 surprise in the three mile handicap hurdle at Limerick.

He went for home before the second last but Phillip Enright's red cap was seen making relentless progress on board Toon River

Enright steered his mount into second at that flight but Toon River couldn't get on terms with Cappacurry Zak, who ground it out well to land the spoils by a length and three parts.

The runner-up, Toon River, was a 14/1 chance. Dawn Raider (9/1) and Call Vinnie (5/1) came in third and fourth respectively in this 17-runner contest.

Handler Leslie Young said: “I was going to run him in a beginners' chase at Tramore but he got balloted out. He took it up a long way out and was there to be shot at. I still think he’s probably more of a chaser.”

Owners Tom Treacy (also the breeder) and Sean O’Connell are committee members at Ballinrobe racecourse. Sea Scorpion the 4/1 favourite, was pulled up. He made a bad mistake five out when fourth and soon weakened.
