Fergiethelegend galloped his rivals into submission to claim the handicap chase on the card at Wexford this afternoon.

The John Carr-trained gelding duelled for the lead in the early stages and was in front taking them out on the final circuit.

Cathal Landers' mount got his rivals at work heading down the hill after the third last and he kept on well over the final two fences to record an 11 length success over Cadawill

The winner had been well beaten in a banks race at Punchestown last time and was giving Carr his first winner since he had last scored at Naas in February 2016.

John Carr said:- "I thought I mightn't make it in time. There was a crash on the motorway, and I thought if the traffic in Enniscorthy was bad that I wouldn't get here. I only made it by minutes!

"He ran okay in the banks race at Punchestown last week. We were hoping he'd have a chance off a light weight on that ground. We'll find something else for him in the next couple of weeks.”
