Emmet Mullins' Carrarea wore down Willie The Coo to take the spoils in the bumper at Roscommon.

Willie The Coo saw off gambled-on Tom Sarah Evelyn in the final quarter of a mile, however, Carrarea soon moved stylishly into a threatening position.

Willie The Coo kept finding for Patrick Mullins but Philip Byrnes and Carrarea got the better of them in the closing stages to win by a length.

The winner was the 11/10 favourite while the runner-up went off at 9/4. Tom Gibney's newcomer Tom Sarah Evelyn was noted being backed at 25/1 this morning and contracted to 11/2 on the off. He was nine lengths off the runner-up in third.

Jockey Byrnes said: “He was a bit keen early on but settled down the back and he picked up really well to the line.

“He definitely came on from the last day and he's a lovely horse. It was a good performance under a penalty and when I asked the question he really galloped to the line well.”

Carrarea is now two from two after winning a bumper at Punchestown in May when also partnered by Byrnes.
