County Hurdle-placed Embittered gained a belated first win over fences today as the Joseph O'Brien trained 141-rated chaser landed Killarney's JOC Metal Fabrication Beginners Chase under jockey Donagh Meyler.

The Gigginstown House Stud owned son of Fame And Glory was placed in Cheltenham's 2020 County Hurdle and while a mid-field finisher in last month's Galway Hurdle, today scored at the eighth time over fences.

Embittered (4/6f) was beside Poseidon when jumping slightly to the right at the last and battled well to beat that rival by half a length.

Meyler later stated “he had the standout form and had the bit of experience behind him so it was nice to see him leave the run the last day behind him. He did it well in the end.

“He loved that ground, travelled and jumped well.”
