Choisir passes away aged 22

Champion sprinter and successful sire Choisir has passed away at the age of 22.

The imposing chestnut claimed a famous double at Royal Ascot in 2003 when winning both the King's Stand and Golden Jubilee Stakes for Australian trainer Paul Perry.

At stud he was responsible for 11 top level winners including the likes of Starspangledbanner, Olympic Glory and The Last Lion.

Coolmore Australia tweeted:- "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Choisir at the age of 22. He sired an incredible 100 SWs in 12 countries and 11 G1Ws throughout the world and we were so lucky to have him. Sincere condolences to all those who worked closely with this great horse."
