Davy Russell's purple patch continued as he claimed the opening three races at Limerick this afternoon after the victory of Caltex in the two-mile six maiden hurdle.

It was also a quick double for Gordon Elliott with the pair having claimed the previous contest with Lackaneen Leader

Gigginstown gelding Caltex went to post a 6/4 shot having been runner-up on his last two outings.

Russell produced him to lead going to the second last and he stayed on stoutly in the closing stages to post a six-length success over Percy Veer

5/6 favourite Catwalk King finished four-and-a-half lengths back in third.

"He'll go jumping fences now and will stay chasing for the summer and we'll have a bit of craic with him,” said Elliott.

"He's a good looking horse and will do his job and he'll be ok."
