Gold Sun knuckled down well to gain compensation at Sligo today in the two-and-a-half mile handicap chase.

Robert Tyner 's charge was a faller two from home when in contention at Wexford on his last outing.

Phillip Enright held his mount up today before taking closer order three from. He moved up to press leader Cantkidakidder two out but was untidy there.

The front-runner got a better jump again at the final fence but Enright conjured a late charge from Gold Sun as he got up to secure a two-and-a-quarter length success at odds of 4/1.

Enright, recording a quick brace after the win of Baily Thunder in the preceding race, said:-

“He has his own way of jumping. Thankfully he made amends for the last day. I gave him a squeeze at the second last that day and he put down on me.

“It makes amends for the owner, and for Robert and Mary. I’ve been with them since I started, so when they made the long journey up here it was great to get the win.

“He kept galloping all the way to the line.”
