Coolfighter stuck his head out in the closing stages to take the finale at Gowran this afternoon.

Noel Dooly ’s charge was produced to challenge under two furlongs out in the mile-six handicap by Denis Linehan.

He fought out a good duel with Along The Shore inside the final furlong and just had a bit extra close home to record a neck success.

The 9/1 winner was recording his fifth win this year, having scored four times over hurdles during the summer.

"I'm not sure if it's the surface or the light catching his eye but he doesn't seem to like Dundalk. He's a different horse back on grass,” said Dooly.

"He's in again at Leopardstown on Sunday over a mile and a half and, if he's okay after this, he could go there.

"No stalls today helped a lot. He's a big horse and is often slow out of stalls. That's his fifth win of the season and he owes nobody anything."
