Bryan Cooper was taken to hospital following a fall from Tiger Roll on the fourth day of the Galway Festival.

Cooper parted company from the Gordon Elliott-trained six-year-old approaching the final fence in the Guinness Harp Novice Chase.

He did his best to stay on board, but ultimately found himself unseated and sliding into the bottom of the obstacle.

Dr Adrian McGoldrick, chief medical advisor for the Turf Club, said: "Bryan had a nasty fall and has been taken to hospital.

"It looks as though he has a chest injury and there has been a query about his ribs and his liver, but we are still awaiting an update."
