Friary Gold gained a belated first win at Killarney today as Gavin Cromwell's bargain buy landed the Jim Ryan Race Services Handicap Hurdle under jockey Jonathan Moore.

The son of Mountain High was picked up by Cromwell and Durcan Bloodstock for just £2,800 at Goffs UK horses-in-training sale last August and today, on his 26th start, gained a first win aged eight, when proving two and a half lengths too strong for Blackyellowred

The win was Cromwell's fifth and Moore's third since the resumption of racing.
